The Umaru Sanda Ahmadu College of Education, Minna was established as an Advanced Teachers’ College by the defunct North Western State Government on November 1st, 1975, to meet the growing demand for qualified teachers in the state.
In 1983, it was upgraded to a full College of Education through Niger State Edict N.S.L.N Number 3 of 1983. The leadership evolved from the first Provost, Late Dr. Umaru Sanda Ahmadu, to distinguished successors such as Dr. Gambo T. Yusuf, Dr. Bukar Emmanuel Naroka Dauda, Prof. Ibrahim Adamu Kolo, Prof. Faruk Rashid Haruna, and the current Provost, Prof. Muhammad Yakubu Auna.
The College offers several programmes leading to the award of the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE), as well as the Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) and undergraduate degrees in affiliation with Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto.
